Microsoft 365
Reconnect Outlook on iPhone or iPad
Remove an old work account from Outlook for iOS, add the final account and clear the app if it keeps selecting the wrong organisation.
Before you begin
- Confirm the final work email address and password work at Outlook on the web.
- Make sure Microsoft Authenticator is available and notifications are allowed.
- Send any draft messages that exist only in the Outlook app before deleting the account or app.
Remove and re-add the account
- Open Outlook.
Tap your profile picture or initials, then the Settings gear.
- Open Accounts.
Select the old work account and tap Remove Account.
- Close Outlook.
Open the app switcher and swipe Outlook away.
- Open Outlook again.
Select Add Account and enter the final work email address.
- Complete sign-in.
Choose Work or school account if asked, enter the current password, and approve MFA.
If mail appears incomplete after sign-in
In Outlook, go to Settings > Accounts, select the work account, and choose Reset Account. Outlook will refresh its local data.
If Outlook still opens the wrong organisation
Deleting and reinstalling Outlook is the final self-service step. It removes the app's local configuration, so send any unsent drafts first.
- Delete the Outlook app.
Touch and hold Outlook, choose Remove App > Delete App, then confirm.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Open the App Store and reinstall Microsoft Outlook.
Search for Microsoft Outlook and confirm the publisher is Microsoft Corporation.
- Add only the final work email address.
Enter the current password and approve MFA.
Do not approve an unexpected organisation. If the app changes the email address to an unfamiliar onmicrosoft.com address, take a screenshot that does not expose a password or Authenticator code, then contact support.
